Funeral services for Bartholomew (Bart) Gilroy, 73, of Oxford Junction were held at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial was at Mayflower Cemetery. The Rosary was said Tuesday evening at Hayden's Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas McConville of Lost Nation officiated at the service.

Mr. Gilroy died Saturday evening, April 15, at the Mechanicsville Care Center, where he had been a resident for one year.

He was born August 27, 1904 at Lost Nation, the son of James and Martha Monahan Gilroy. A graduate of Lost Nation High School, he was a resident of that town until 1944. On October 7, 1944 he married Catherine Carrington at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They then lived in Oxford Junction.

Until his retirement, he worked for International Harvestor, Rock Island. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors are his wife; one brother, Tom, of Savanna, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister and one brother.

Pallbearers were Naamon Glynn, Frank Vozenilek, Emile Lasack, James Neville, John Reyes and Leonard Boos.
