Funeral services were held for Mrs. Lorenz (Mathilda H.) Ahrendsen, 88, of Oxford Junction at 10:30 Thursday morning, April 20, at the United Methodist Church. Burial was at Massillon Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Hamann officiated at the services. Hayden's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ahrendsen died early Monday morning at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids.

She was born March 22, 1890 in Jones County, the daughter of Hans and Anna Neilsen Rohwedder. On January 20, 1912 she was married to Lorenz Ahrendsen at Anamosa. They farmed south of Oxford Junction until retiring to town in 1952.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and of the Home and Garden Club.

Survivors are her husband; one son, Hans R. of Oxford Junction; two grandchildren, Mrs. Clyde (Karen) Miller of Owensbough, Kentucky and Richard of Oxford Junction, and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, one sister, one half brother and three half sisters.

Pallbearers were Richard Wink, L. L. McCreight, Raymond Sobotka, Ervin Rohwedder, Norman Ahrendsen and Larry Jones.
