Louis Gerhard Zimmerman, 68, of Olin, died February 2, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. The funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 5, at St. John American Lutheran Church in Olin, with Pastor John Flaa officiating. Burial was at the Olin Cemetery. Casket bearers were: Dale Groth, Allen Groth, Steve Ballou, Richard Nebergall, Leslie Peterson and James Tallman.

Zimmerman was born August 3, 1910 to Sophie and Mino Zimmerman. He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Olin his entire life.

Surviving are his wife, Lovilla, a daughter, Mary Katherine of Des Moines; two sons, Richard Lee, rural Anamosa, and Kenneth Louis, rural Olin; five sisters, Grace Frankfurt, Margaret Schellin, Mary Byers, Leona Luck, and Elnora Paulson; one brother, John; and eight grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers and one sister.
