William G. Donnelly, Dubuque, former Anamosa resident, died Saturday, May 28.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 31, at 10 a.m. A Requiem High mass was sung by Rev. J. A. McMahon. Sermon was delivered by Rev. Thomas Greener. Interment was in Holy Cross cemetery. McNamara Funeral home, Anamosa, had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers included Patrick Murray, Richard Hennagir, Alan Hannagir, Victor Knight, Robert Ernst, Donald Jaeger.

Honorary pallbearers were Milton Chesire, William Finn, Vincent McGreevy, Merle Rawson, John M. Burke, Ed McAleer.

He was born Jan. 10, 1893, son of Francis P. and Mary Neville Donnelly, Oelwein. He was educated in the Jones county schools and spent most of his life in Anamosa. Eight years ago he moved to Dubuque where he had resided since.

He was married to Aldora Hilbrant, Morrison, Ill., July 24, 1929. She preceded him in death on May 1, 1945.

He was general agent for the insurance division of the Knights of Columbus in eastern Iowa. He was a veteran of World war I; member of the American Legion; 40 and 8 society; Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus; Holy Name society, and a member of Holy Trinity church, Dubuque.

Mr. Donnelly was a talented musician and he and his brother, Paul, had their own dance band for many years, known as "The Donnelly's and Their Knights of Harmony." They toured the midwest and mid-eastern states.

Survivors include three children, William G. Donnelly, jr., Davenport; Mary, Mrs. Orval Fleckenstein, Dubuque; James E. Donnelly, Davenport.

Other survivors include a brother, Paul F. Donnelly, Albert Lea, Minn.,; a sister, Eleanor C. Donnelly, Anamosa, and six grandchildren.
