May 19, 1960 - The Anamosa Eureka

SPRINGVILLE--Mrs. Inez Belle Axline Townsend, Springville, died Monday, May 16, following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 18, at 2 p.m. in the McNamara Funeral home, Anamosa. Rev. Maurice Frevert, Springville, officiated. Burial was in the Green cemetery, Morley.

Pallbearers included Allen Hoffman, Kenneth Taylor, jr., Joseph Mull, Allen Joslin, Laverne Etten, Donald Mull, Paul Yarrington and Francis Yarrington.

She was born July 13, 1908, daughter of Joseph Jefferson Axline and Grace Bell Brutsman Axline, Brandon. She had lived in the Anamosa and Springville communities most of her life.

She was married to Charles Noel Townsend, Feb. 7, 1924. She was a member of the First Baptist church, Anamosa.

Survivors include eight children, June E. Townsend, Scotch Grove; Eva Etten, Anamosa; James N. Townsend and Willis W. Townsen, sr., Amana.

Others include Betty A. Joslin, Rosemary A. Townsend, Mable M. Townsend and Daniel R. Townsend, all of Springville; her mother, Mrs. Grace B. Axline, Anamosa; three brothers, Louie Axline, Anamosa; Joe Axline, Springville; and Donald Axline, Marion.

Others include two sisters, Sadie Wolf and Dorothy Dirks, both of Anamosa; four grandchildren and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles N. Townsend; her father, Joseph J. Axline; a son, Neil Allen Townsend; and a sister, Mrs. Lucille M. Mull.
