OLIN--Clarence H. Freeman, 75, Olin, died on Friday March 11, at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, following an illness of several weeks.

A prayer service was held Tuesday, March 15, at 1:45 p.m. at the family home.

Funeral services were held at the Evangelical United Brethren church, at 2 p.m. Rev. Lloyd Dutro, was in charge of the service. Interment was in the Olin cemetery. Ancient Landmark lodge, No. 200, Olin, was in charge of the Masonic service.

Pallbearers were August Ahrendsen, James Cousins, Lee Crain, Ernest Peck, Francis Glenn and Dr. N. R. Waggoner.

Mrs. Leon Stivers was soloist and Linda Sharon was organist. Mrs. Bliss Switzer, Mrs. Michael Swenson and Mrs. Arno Lawson were in charge of the floral arrangements.

He was born near Olin, on Sept. 11, 1884, the son of H. H. and Hattie Phillips Freeman.

He grew up in the Olin vicinity, attending the Pleasant hill school, southeast of Olin, and the Olin public school.

In Feb. of 1907, he was united in marriage to Maude Streeter. Four children, a son, Everett, a daughter, Marcella, and a pair of twin sons who died in infancy, were born to this marriage. His wife passed away in 1919.

In September of 1920 he was united in marriage to Vella Hester, at Lincoln, Nebr. Two sons were born to this union.

Mr. Freeman had lived most of his life in the Olin community. After working for a time on the railroad he learned the barber trade and for a number of years he operated a barber shop in Olin. He later moved to the farm where he lived until 1944 when they again moved into Olin and had continued to make this their home since that time.

He was a member of Ancient Landmark lodge No. 200, A.F. & A.M. at Olin, where he was a past master; and also of Hiawatha chapter No. 394, O.E.S., Olin, where he was a past patron.

He is survived by his wife, Vella; a daughter, Marcella, Mrs. Don Goodyear, Mount Vernon; three sons, Everett Freeman, Mount Vernon; Rev. Jack Freeman, Burns Flat, Okla.; and James E. Freeman, of the U.S. Navy, stationed at San Diego, Calif.

Six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one nephew, a number of other relatives, and friends also survive.

In addition to the wife and twin sons mentioned before, he was also preceded in death by a brother who died in June, 1946; and by both his parents.
