OXFORD JUNCTION -- Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 3, from the Hayden Funeral home, Oxford Junction, at 1:30 p.m., for William Frank Clampitt, 70. Rev. Dan Benedict of the Methodist church, Monmouth, conducted the service, and also members of the American Legion. Burial was in the Hale cemetery.

Body of William Clampitt was found about 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at his home, west of Oxford Junction, near the river. He had lived alone and neighbors became concerned because he had not taken in his mail and upon investigation found him dead.

Sheriff Driebelbis was called and also the coroner and it was decided that death was due to natural causes. Body was taken to the Hayden Funeral home.

William Clampitt was born in Linn county, near Bertram, the son of Thomas and Sarah Banks Clampitt. He had lived near Oxford Junction, alone, for a number of years.

Two brothers, one Ed, Oxford Junction, and a sister in Cedar Rapids.
