Funeral services were held for Mrs. Fred (Katherine) Petersen, 85, of Oxford Junction on Wednesday, December 28 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Burial was at the Wyoming Cemetery. Officiating at the services was Rev. Douglas Holmgren. Arrangements were made by Hayden's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Petersen died Sunday, December 25, at the Clarence Nursing Home, where she had lived for seven years.

She was born in Oltbundeich, Germany, on November 16, 1892, the daughter of Peter and Catherine Carstens Brodersen. She came to this country in 1912 and lived in the Wyoming area.

On January 2, 1918, she was married to Fred T. Petersen in Olin. They farmed near Anamosa for two years and then south of Wyoming until moving to Oxford Junction in 1948. Mr. Petersen died in 1970.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Agnes) Klein of Stanwood; two sons, Fred W. and Elmer of Wyoming; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandsons.

In addition to her husband and parents, those preceding her in death were one granddaughter and two brothers, Lawrenz and Matthias Brodersen.

Pall bearers were James Petersen, Guy Petersen, Thomas Petersen, Leroy Von Rockel, William Klein and Gary Yockey.
