Ulmer (Bud) Clark, 53, well-known Wyoming businessman, drowned last weekend in Lake Michigan while vacationing at Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

A Manitowoc police spokesman said Clark and his wife were riding in a small fishing boat on the lake last Friday, when the boat's outboard motor hit a rock. Clark was attempting to pull the motor out of the water when he lost his balance and fell into the lake.

Mrs. Clark was treated in a Manitowoc hospital for shock following the incident.

Clark's body was recovered shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Zion American Lutheran Church, Wyoming, with Revs. Harold Martin and James Mattson officiating. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa, with military graveside services conducted by the Wyoming American Legion Post #259. Hayden Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Smith, Lawrence Kriegel, Milton Herren, Bruce Slaymaker, Clyde Brown and Merle Dennis.

Ulmer Mayo Clark was born July 20, 1924 at Cedar Rapids, the son of Dawson and Elva Harris Clark. He was raised and attended school at Wadena, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Violet (Jackie) Woodworth September 27, 1966 at Caledonia, Minnesota. He spent most of his life in Linn and Jones Counties, and has been in the appliance sales and repair business in Wyoming and Anamosa since 1968. For several months, Clark also operated the Cozy Corner Café in Anamosa.

Survivors include his wife, four sons, Duane and Bruce, both of Cedar Rapids, and Paul and Mark Jensen, who live out-of-state; two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Lynn) Hutchins, Wyoming, Mrs. Les (Jeanie) Hagerman, Atkins; a brother, Dawson, Jr., Cedar Rapids, and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
