Raymond Mowry, 59, Oxford Junction, died in his home Feb. 20. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) in the English Lutheran church, Oxford Junction.

2 March 1961 - The Tipton Conservative

Raymond Clark Mowry, 59, Oxford Junction, died Feb. 20 at his home following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Feb. 23 at the English Lutheran church with the Rev. E. A. Piper officiating. Burial was in Mayflower cemetery.

Mr. Clark was born Nov. 10, 1901, the son of Henry and Emma Horstmann Mowry, on a farm near Bennett. He was married to Verna Anne Lamp March 12, 1924 at Cedar Rapids. They moved to Oxford Junction from Lost Nation in 1936. He farmed until 1953, when they retired and moved to town.

He continued as an auctioneer until a year ago, when his health forced him to discontinue this work. He served on the Oxford Junction school board for 6 years and was president for 2 years. He was a member of the English Lutheran church and Knights of Pythias Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Audrey) Fritz, What Cheer; 3 grandchildren, Kenneth, Connie and John Paul Fritz; one brother, Melvin, Massillon; 3 sisters, Mrs. Herman Toerber, Mrs. L. E. Christensen and Mrs. Harold Hall, all of Massillon.

Pallbearers were 6 nephews, Dennis Stange, Maquoketa; Duane Christensen, Hampton; Virgil Mowry, Lost Nation; Hurley and Terry Hall, Marion, and Ray Stange, Clarence.
