Raymond F. Nowachek, 61, Baldwin, died Wednesday at Maquoketa Hospital after a lingering illness.

The funeral was at 1:30 p.m. Friday Dec. 31, at Carson Funeral Home, Maquoketa. The Rev. J. Hoppes of Monmouth-Baldwin Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in Mayflower Cemetery, Oxford Junction, with a military service.

He was born Aug. 29, 1915, in Wyoming, the son of Frank and Tillie Pegorick Nowachek. He married Shirley Kettelsen Dec. 29, 1963, in East Dubuque.

He was a veteran of WWII and owner and operator of the DX service station in Baldwin for many years.

Survivors include his widow; a step-daughter, Mrs. Connie Yarolem, Baldwin; 4 grandchildren and 1 sister, Mrs. Ruth Burroughs, Maquoketa.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother.
