Avis Alta Ieske, 63, died in a Cedar Rapids Nursing Center on January 6th, following a lingering illness.

She was born on August 13, 1912, at Mechanicsville, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob H. Miller and Bessie M. Miller.

She was a resident of San Francisco, California until 10 years ago, when she and her husband moved to Iowa for health reasons.

Mrs. Ieske was a member of the United Presbyterian church in Center Junction, a member of the Eastern Star, and she was active in community organizations.

She is survived by 2 sons, Gary Utterback, Santa Jose, California, and Dean Utterback, Santa Rosa, California, 5 grandchildren, 3 sisters, Mrs. Frances Collier, Center Junction, Mrs. Russ (Ruth) Davis, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Lora DeHass, Enid, Oklahoma, and 2 brothers, Carl Miller, Cedar Rapids, and Lyrne Miller of California.

She was preceeded in death by 2 brothers.

Services were on Friday, January 9 at the Chapel of Memories, with Rev. Lee Roy Collins of St. Mark's Methodist church, Cedar Rapids, officiating.

Burial was in Cedar Memorial cemetery.
