page 7A very sad accident happened Saturday that resulted in the death of John Beardsley. A party of young men went rabbit hunting and drove out into the country in an auto. After shooting some rabbits one gun was put back into the auto with one barrel cocked, after they started either the jar of the car or something hitting the trigger the gun was discharged and the whole charge hit Mr. Beardsley in the knee, almost blowing his leg off. He was hurried to the hospital, where his limb was amputated, but he was so weakened from loss of blood that he could not rally and died Sunday. Mr. Beardsley was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Orange Beardsley of this town. He was married and is survived by his wife and one child. The funeral was held in the M.E. church on Wednesday.
