Curtis W. Shirk, 81, passed away November 24, 1975 at the Veteran's Hospital in Iowa City.

He was born at Monmouth, Iowa on November 6, 1894, the son of Jacob and Cara Scheik Shirk.

He attended rural school near Monmouth, and worked on his parents' farm for several years, before entering the service in 1917. He served in World War I.

He worked on farms most of his life in Iowa, Nebraska and Florida.

He spent one and one half years in the Kleinek Nursing home in Onslow. He had been a resident of the Senior Home in Monticello for the past 4 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Grace McGappee, Los Angeles, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Friday, November 28, at 1:30 at the Funeral Home in Wyoming.

Pallbearers were: Harlan Shirk, Donald Shirk, Arnold Calloway, Ralph Calloway, Harold Calloway and Mike Calloway.

Rev. Loren Simpson officiated.

Burial was in the Monmouth Cemetery.

The American Legion held grave side services.
