page 10Anamosa, Ia. Oct. 26--Mrs. S. A. Pope died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Ina Kruminga, last week. Mrs. Pope was one of the very old people who have made their homes in Anamosa, having reached her 90th birthday on October 15th. Both Mr. and Mrs. Pope were natives of New York state, the former being a carpenter by trade. Mr. Pope died several years ago, but his wife remained in the home until the feebleness of advancing years obliged her to make a home with her granddaughter. One son was born to Mr. Pope, who died in early manhood, leaving two children, a son and a daughter, James Pope of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Kruminga. Mrs. Pope was a member of the Baptist church and the funeral services were held there Wednesday afternoon. The W. R. C. of which Mrs. Pope was long an active and later an honorary member, attended the services in a body.
