page 4Anamosa, Ia., Sept. 11--The death of Mrs. M. C. Rigby occurred on Tuesday morning. This event, though expected for some months, was a shock to all her friends at the last. Mrs. Rigby had been a resident of Anamosa many years, and there was no one more widely known and respected than she. Mr. Rigby died some years ago. Last winter Mrs. Rigby with her sister, Miss Louise Gerber, spent some months in Florida with a brother. Her health seemed at first to improve, but since her return she has been afflicted with a dropsical trouble, which was the cause of her death. A son, John Rigby, of Knoxville, Tenn., and one daughter, Mrs. H. O. Kratochvil, survive her. The latter has been in constant attendance on her mother since her return from the south. The funeral services were held at the home Saturday morning, Rev. Eric Hamilton, rector of the Episcopal church, officiating. Her brother, John Gerber, of Washington, and his wife, Harry Gerber of Waldo, Fla.., and her son and his wife from Tennessee, and her son-in-law, Dr. Kratochvil, were all able to be present.
