page 6Anamosa, Iowa, August 4--The funeral services for William Allen were held at the Congregational church Tuesday morning. Mr. Allen was overcome with the heat Saturday morning while engaged in taking orders for the grocery firm of Mills and Holtman and never recovered consciousness, passing away Sunday morning. Mr. Allen was about seventy years of age and had lived in Anamosa about forty years. He was a carpenter by trade and worked for twenty years with E. M. Harvey. Then he entered the employ of what was then the firm of Shaw and Dutton and when the establishment changed proprietors he still remained and was valued for this faithful honesty and willingness to oblige. Rev. E. E. Evans conducted the services. Mr. Allen is survived by one son who could not be located in time for the funeral but will reach Anamosa today. All of the grocery stores closed during the funeral hour in respect to the memory of Mr. Allen.
