Bessie Bernice Dawes, 84 Sarah Harding Retirement Home, Clinton, Iowa, passed away November 6, 1975, at the Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, Ill.

She was born in Onslow on May 27, 1891, the daughter of Austin Nelson Reade and Ellen Osborne Reade.

She married Frank E. Dawes in Wyoming on February 23, 1918. The couple lived on farms in the Wyoming, Onslow, and Center Junction areas, retireing to Anamosa in 1957. They moved to Clinton in 1972.

Bessie was a former member of the Presbyterian Church in Center Junction.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lewis (Marjorie) Ahrnken, Clinton, Iowa, Mrs. Wesley Tolf, DeKalb, Ill., two grandchildren, Steven Tolf, DeKalb, Ill., and Mrs. Susan Noonan, Boston, Mass. She also is survived by two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 10th at 1:30 at Hayden's Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Johnson officiating.

Pallbearers were: Ralph Husman, Donald Graves, Edmund Jeffrey, Edmund Krogman, Orval Dawes, Carl Reuter.

Burial was in the Wyoming Cemetery.
