Celena Cross, 61, Center Junction, died Sunday Jan. 13, 1974 at the John McDonald Hospital in Monticello after a lingering illness.

She was born near Amber, June 28, 1912, the daughter of Carl and Maria Scheer Eden. She attended the Jones County Rural Schools, and on June 24, 1937 was married to Mark Cross. Except for a year in Tennessee and for four years in Wisconsin, they made their home in Jones county.

She is survived by her husband and three children, William Mark Cross of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Eldon (Betty) Neuman of Beloit, Wisc.; and Keith Wayne Cross of Center Junction. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hilligardt of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Ida Ray of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Henry Eden of Anamosa and Carl Eden of Paralta. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mrs. Sadie Wehling, and two infant sisters.

Funeral services were held at the Wayne Lutheran Church, Wednesday, Jan. 16, with the Rev. Harvey O. Gilbertson officiating. Interment was in the Wayne Zion Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Ivan Eden, George Wood, Allan Eden, Raymond Fare, Charles Coulbourn, and Carl Wehling.
