Ruth S. Westphal,78, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997, in St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Zion American Lutheran Church, by the Rev. David Guetzke. Burial: Wyoming Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hayden Funeral Home.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Manwiller of Granger and Mona Brenneman of Des Moines; and two sons, James of Bettendorf and Charles of Monmouth.
