Thomas Eichhorn

Thomas O. Eichhorn, 85, of Wyoming, a major force behind the Wyoming horse Show for many years, died Monday, May 9, in Anamosa Community Hospital.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Ronald Grimes at 11 a.m. Wednesday, may 11, in First Presbyterian Church, Wyoming. Burial was in Wyoming Cemetery.

Pallbearers were John, Richard, Howard and Stanley Eichhorn and Elmer and John Nissen.

Mr. Eichhorn was born June 1, 1897, the son of Henry and Anna Brodersen Eichhorn. After attending rural school east of Wyoming, he learned the carpentry trade under Ed Peeler. He served in World War I, then farmed with his brother Pete before purchasing his own farm just west of Wyoming. He retired in 1962.
He and Bernice Bramer were married at Cambridge, Ill., March 21, 1934.

Mr. Eichhorn loved horses and was a director of the Wyoming Horse Show for many years and was president for 14 years. he was a director of Citizens State Bank, Wyoming, from 1944 to 1979, first Vice president in 1964-64 and president 1965 -79. He served on the Jones County Board of Review for more than 20 years.
He was a 62-year member of Wyoming American Legion Post 259 and a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 5. He was an elder and trustee of First Presbyterian Church for many years.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Warren (Sandra) Etter of South Elgin, Ill., and Marcia of Elgin, Ill.; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters and his parents.
