Richard L. Eichhorn, 64, of Wyoming died Friday, Sept 16, 1988, at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa.

He was born near Wyoming Nov 16, 1923, the son of Peter and Alice Messner Eichhorn.

He attended county schools and graduated from Wyoming high School in 1941. He helped his parents on the family farm, and on Oct 12, 1947, he married Luella Soper at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, they purchased a farm east of Wyoming, and Richard continued farming until his death. Richard was also a self-employed carpenter for many years.

He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church of Wyoming, and a member of the Farm Bureau. He was a past member of the Zion Lutheran Church Council, and served as a member and president of the Midland School Board.

Richard is survived by his wife, Luella, four daughters, Mrs. Wendell (Gail) Schwebke of Arlington, Texas; Mrs. Mark (Verle) Towers of Corpus Christi, Texas; Mrs. Tom (Becky) Berkley of Dubuque, and one son, Dennis, of Baldwin; 11 grandchildren; and two brothers, John of Wyoming, and Howard of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept 19, at Zion Lutheran Church in Wyoming with the Rev. Gregory Hanneman officiating. Burial was in the Wyoming Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marvin Doden, Donald Leinen, Elmer Petersen, George and Bill Hansen, and Paul Huston.

Hayden Funeral home of Wyoming was in charge of funeral arrangements.
