Marjorie (Dukek) Brunscheen, 89, of Wyoming, died Friday, September 26, 2008 at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.

A celebration of her life was held on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming, with the Rev. Margaret Debner officiating. Burial was in the Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming, Iowa. Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming.

Marjorie Dukek was born on February 20, 1919, near Alburnett, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Florence (Goodrow) Dukek. She graduated from Alburnett High School in 1936. She then attended Lenox College in Hopkington, Iowa, and graduated with her teaching certificate in 1938.
She taught school at Toddville, Iowa, for one year.

On June 9, 1939, she married Everett H. Brunscheen at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming, Iowa. The couple began farming west of Wyoming on the farm on which they retired and which was her home at the time of her death. Everett preceded her in death on January 14, 1997.

Marjorie was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church and the Ladies Eveready Club for many years. She and Everett wintered in Mission, Texas for more than 25 years. She was a wonderful lady and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

She is survived by three sons, two daughters, 8 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Emagene; two sisters-in-law, and her beloved dog, Abby.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett, her parents, one brother and two step-grandsons.
