Ede G. Renken, 88, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2004, in the Anamosa Care Center after a short illness. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Kramer Funeral Home, Monticello. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello, by the Rev.Eugene Schipper. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established to the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church in his memory.

Ede was born May 25, 1915, in Wayne Township, Jones County, the son of John L. and Teite Margaretha Eden Renken. He farmed his entire life in Jones County. He was a member of the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. He graduated from the Montana State College in 1941 in the division of agriculture. He was an avid gardener and was known for his gladiolas, for which he received many awards.

Survivors include a nephew, Louis Shaun Renken of Monticello; a niece, L. Irene (Wayne) Perin of Cincinnati; and a sister-in-law, Mary Renken of Monticello.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Emma Renken, on Dec. 3, 1998; and a brother, Lewie J. Renken, on Oct. 31, 1992.
