Death of Former Citizen
M. E. Carr, well Known and Respected Man Died in Anthon

The news of the death of M. E. Carr, at Anthon, Iowa, was received here last Friday by James B. Skahill. Mr. Carr had been to poor health during the past winter but his death was a surprise to his relatives and friends in his vicinity.

Mr. Carr was a son of the late Michael Carr of Washington township, and was born in Ohio 56 years ago. When a small boy he to Jones county with his parents. He remained upon the farm, and in addition to his farm work was for many years assessor of Washington Township.

He was married to Catherine Jane Murray April 24, 1881. In 1896, Mr. Carr sold his farm and removed to Woodbury county, Iowa, and bought a 280-acre farm near Anthon where he resided up to the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mary, Mrs. Paul Fleming; Catherine, Mrs. James McNiff, John, William, Lettie, Frank, Joseph, Marjory, Leona, Albert, and Cecil. His relatives here are his cousins, Joseph, Thomas, and John Carr, and his widow is a cousin of James B. Skahill. The funeral was held at the Catholic church in Anthon on Monday.
