Dubuque Express and Herald, October 29, 1856

The Democratic Convention, which assembled at Anamosa on Saturday last, put in nomination as candidate for delegate to the Congressional Convention for the district of Jackson and Jones counties, Joseph Mann, Esq., Editor of the Anamosa Gazette.

This is a very good nomination. Mr. Mann has been a resident of the state and county for a number of years, during which time he has held the important office of County Judge, two terms in succession and has in various ways served the people of his county as a public servant. In a;l these positions he has maintained a high character for integrity and uprightness as well as unswerving Democracy.

You can say with truth to the people of the District in which he is a candidate that if elected, Mr. Mann will do his utmost to secure the best interests of the people of the State. We trust he will be elected by a handsome majority.
