BROKE JAIL-Sherriff Babcock lost two boarders last Monday evening. They made their escape from the jail by twisting a bar out of place in the door fronting on Main Street. They are described as follows;

Philip Degnan, 30 years old, about five feet eight inches, dark complexion, black hair cut short, eyes black and deep set, coarse features, smooth shaved, not much of a talker and addicted to drink. Degnan was awaiting trial on the charge of stealing Wm. Brazelton’s horse at Monticello some months ago.

The other man was Hillard Edwards, alias James Mason. He is about 25 years old, six feet two inches in height, with sharp features, sandy complexion, and sandy hair cut short, slight mustache and chin whiskers. Is a pleasant good talker and wore greyish clothes considerably worn. Edwards was held on a charge of stealing a watch in Jackson Township. The sheriff offers $25 each for the arrest and detention of the above described parties. Accomplices aided in the escape of the prisoners, their tracks leading to the door of the jail being plainly discernible.

P. S.-The prisoners have been taken.
