Thelma Mae Schadt, 71, Chariton, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died at 11:00 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 1993, at the Chariton Manor, Chariton.
She was born Nov. 17, 1921, in the White Oak community, the daugher of Elmer and Edna Messer Sammons, Sr. On May 28, 1940, she married Joseph E. Schadt, who preceded her in death April 25, 1984.
She was employed by the Iris City Cleaners for 36 years, retiring in September 1991, at which time she moved to Chariton to live with her daughter, Connie.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Schadt and Connie Stonehouse, both of Chariton; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Elmer, Jr., Riverside; and two sisters, Viola Havel and Ruth Horak, both of Iowa City.
She was also preced in death by her parents and one sister, Gladys Havel.
The family will receive friends tonight at the Beatty Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, at the Beatty Funeral Home, Rev. Deb Kiesey will officiate. Interment will be in the Forest Home Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
