Looking for info on CARL LEWIS GILLIES of Iowa City; born 24 Nov 1901, died April 1975. His Social Security Application dated 1945, shows he was employed at the State University of Iowa. I know there is a Carl L. Gillies Library & a Carl Gillies Award granted by the Radiology faculty at the University of Iowa College of Medicine and I wonder why these are named after him. Is there a bio available on this man? Where could I obtain an obit for him? Thanks in advance for any help.
