I have looked at Iowa City newspapers using newspaperarchive.com, but could not find a connection to Illinois. There are many large gaps in years/months. Best to find someone who can search obits in Iowa City.
I have posted miscellaneous records on the Document Board of this site which gives possible death dates of John, wife Susan, and children; helpful for obit searches.
I have also posted on obit of the wife of Thomas F. Murray (Fern L. Murray 1886-1973), son of John and Susan. This gives descendants who might have further info.
