Seeking death & burial information of Caroline Mears

Hello,

I am seeking the exact date/place of death and burial location of my ancestor Caroline (Averill) Balcomb Mears, whose last known residence was in Maquoketa, Iowa.

She died between January 7 - 23, 1879. One source I have says she was buried in Maquoketa (Jackson County), and another says she died in Iowa City (Johnson County).

She was a pauper, and may have been sent to the Jackson County Poor Farm. If they had no room, paupers were apparently sent to the Johnson County Poor Farm instead.

If anyone happens upon information about Caroline Mears, or knows where to access the poor farm records for Jackson or Johnson County, I would appreciate hearing of it.
