Co. G, 22nd Iowa Volunteer Infantry - WICAL, Cyrus, age 32, residence Iowa City, nativity Ohio. Enlisted August 5, 1862. Mustered in August 26, 1862. Promoted Fifth Corporal August 1, 1863; Fifth Sergeant September 1, 1863; Fourth Sergeant January 1, 1864; Third Sergeant July 1, 1864. Killed in action September 19, 1864, Winchester, VA. Buried in National Cemetery, Winchester, VA, Lot 76.Also in this book would be others in the same regiment.
He was married to Edna HIGGINS in Johnson County, IA on March 1, 1853. After his death, Edna moved to Tama County, IA, with other members of the Higgins family. Edna was a sister to my g-g-grandfather, Saul Higgins. Have more info on the Cyrus Wical children if you would like to have it.
