Heart Attack Takes Local Resident at Home of Daughter
Frank Patton, 76, died suddenly early today in Iowa City at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Francis Kessler, 1207 Kirkwood Avenue.
He had been in poor health for about a year, and had suffered a heart attack last Tuesday.
Mr. Patton was born in Iowa City on August 11, 1871, the son of Justen G. and Effie Dodder Patton. He lived in Johnson County and near Lone Tree until 1924, when the family moved to Humboldt, South Dakota, Since his wife’s death in 1937, Mr. Patton has lived with his children. He has been in Iowa City with the Kesslers for the past two years.
Survivors include four sons, George of Greeley, Colo., Oreion of Hot Springs, Mont., Dillon of Humboldt, and Morris of Ft. Dodge; three daughters, Mrs. Clodean Long, Dakota City, Iowa, Mrs. Lauretta Richards, Rock Island, Ill., and Mrs. Kessler, Iowa City; a brother and a sister in Hot Springs, Mont., a sister in Long Beach, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are pending the children’s arrival here. The body is at Oathout funeral home.
