Funeral services for Leo C. Stockman, 72, Oxford, brother of Ed Stockman, Tipton, were held at St. Peter's Catholic church, Cosgrove, March 21, with the Rev. John Clark officiating. Burial was in Mount Calvary cemetery at Oxford. Mr. Stockman, a longtime Johnson county farmer, died at his home near Oxford March 18.
The son of Harry M. and Mary Ahern Stockman, he was born in Hardin township, Johnson county, Aug. 1, 1913. He was married to Mary D. Florang in Riverside in 1938. He was a member of St. Peter's church, the Marquette council of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Foresters and the County Johnson Irish.
He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, Mrs. George (Rosemary) Roots, Huntington Beach, Calif. and Mrs. Charles (Ellen) Smith, Sacramento, Calif.; 5 sons, Timothy, Champaign, Ill.; Thomas, Iowa City; Daniel, Lincoln, Nebr.; David, Grosse Point Farms, Mich. and Harry, St. Louis, Mo.; 3 brothers, Frank and Eugene, Iowa City and Ed, Tipton; 5 sisters, Edna Draker, Hills, Marie Smith, Margaret Vilhauer and Mrs. Dale (Dorothy) Steckly, Oxford and Mrs. Dale (Alice) Liddicoat, Hollywood, Fla.; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, a sister and 3 grandsons.
