Donald Eugene Craft, 83, of Iowa City, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2024 after a long battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He was receiving hospice care at Lantern Park Skilled Nursing Care Center at the time of his passing.

Donald was born on January 13, 1941, to Carl & Ollie Craft of Hedrick, Iowa. He graduated from Hedrick High School in 1959. He married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl, on November 4, 1961, and the couple celebrated their 62nd anniversary last fall. During this union, they had two children, Kalinda & Mark. Donald went on to attend Iowa State University where he received a 2-year certification in dairy science. He became a Quality Control Supervisor for Roberts Dairy and worked there until his retirement in 2005.

Despite graduating from Iowa State, Donald was a devoted Hawkeye fan. He and his wife, Cheryl, were season ticket holders for both football and men’s basketball for many years and continued to cheer them on from their TV once they retired. He was a member of Parkview Church for most of his life. Donald loved traveling with his wife to Bahamas, Jamaica, St. Martin, Hawaii & Florida among many other trips across the United States with his family. Most of all, Donald loved spending time with his three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was always there to cheer them on in their extracurricular activities. His unwavering support and dedication to his family was simply unmatched.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl Craft (Capps), daughter Kalinda Knouse and significant other, son Mark Craft (Marcy Stout), grandchildren - Karissa Ridgeway, Katarina (William) Lacina, & Drew Craft as well as five great-grandchildren - Aidan, Haylee, Ava, Maya, & Reese. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Ollie Craft, his brother and sister-in-law, Richard & Evelyn Craft, and his infant daughter, Sherry Lea.

Visitation will be on Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City followed by a lunch at The Kirkwood Room. Burial will be at Brooks Cemetery in Hedrick, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Iowa City Hospice, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, or American Cancer Society.
