Allen Milton Williams, 79, of Solon, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 17 at his home in Solon.

Allen, often referred to as “Pete” by many friends and relatives, was born on August 26, 1944 in Milwaukee, WI to Dorothy Johnson and Warren Cook. He served in the US Army and Navy for 24 years and had a long career as a consumer safety inspector for the USDA.

While serving abroad in Panama, Allen met Laura (Fields) Williams and the couple married in Panama in September of 1985. They had two daughters together.

Allen enjoyed fishing, cooking, watching pro wrestling and spending time with family. He participated in several bowling leagues with his wife Laura. They went on many vacations together to Florida and many other hot weathered destinations in the US.

Allen is survived by his wife Laura, children Laura Williams, Ariel Williams, Shawne Stephens, Melva Henderson, and Glynn Monroe, and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Johnson and younger brother Valgene Williams.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 31 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Following the service, a celebration of life will be held for family and friends at Laura’s home in Solon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Williams family in care of Laura Williams.
