Robert James Bly Jr. was born February 29, 1988, in Tucson, Arizona, the son of Robert James and Jill Marie (Stanley) Bly. His family moved to Iowa City in 1992 where he attended schools in the Iowa City School district graduating from West High in 2006. While in school, he excelled as a student athlete competing in football, baseball and wrestling. Also becoming a nationally ranked judo player.

He worked most of his adult life in food services in a number of area restaurants. He loved cooking different cuisines and spending time with his family and friends, but especially his precious cat, Chloe. He loved peace and harmony as much as he loved spending time together at the holidays. A natural prankster that loved to have fun no matter what he was doing.

Robert enjoyed life to it’s fullest and made sure those around him did the same. He was fun loving, good humor, generous giving, life of the party type person, his family and friends will miss him dearly. He loved cooking Pho, and “Pho King” was a title he smiled to. Robert liked baseball, especially the NY Yankees, listening to RAP music, judo, anything Nicholas Cage, holidays, his cats, Cloe and Sydney; “collecting shoes” and his lunch ladies parties. In all of this, the core was the love for his family and friends!

His family includes his parents, Robert & Jill; siblings, Abby Blatz (Mike), Anna Babcock (Bryan), Jerrad Bly and Ryne Bly; 8 nieces and nephews, his love of his life, Ashley Richards; and her daughter, Silver who Robert adored as his own.
