Cynthia Raye “Cindi” Dahnke, 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at her home with her son. Rob, and dog, Keely, by her side.

A celebration of Cindi’s life will be from 3:00-6:00pm, Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Lensing’s Oak Hill, Coralville with a time of sharing at 5:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Suncoast Humane Society, 6781 San Casa Drive, Englewood, FL 34224.

Born on June 20, 1951, in Charles City. Cindi was the daughter of Bryce and Vernita (Shaffer) Kennedy.

Cindi married Robert “Bob” Dahnke, the love of her life on February 10, 1968 in Iowa City.

Cindi had a fulfilling career as a registered nurse. For 35 years, she devoted herself to caring for patients at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics and Mercy Hospital, embodying the very essence of nurturing and dedication.

An ardent animal lover, Cindi’s heart held a special place for all creatures great and small. Her own horse was a source of immense joy, and the many dogs that came into her life over the years were met with her boundless love and care.

Cindi and Bob found solace in the serene blue waters of the ocean at their home in Rotonda, Florida. The tranquility of the waves and the warm coastal breeze provided a peaceful retreat from the Iowa winters, allowing them to create cherished memories in the sunshine.

Cindi especially treasured the time spent with her family, especially her sisters, aunt, cousin, nieces, nephews, and great-nephews and nieces.

Her strong spirit will continue to guide and comfort her loved ones.

Cindi is survived by her son Rob Dahnke (Idaliz Maldonado) of San Diego; sisters, Laurie (Rick) Barenz and Sherri Faas (Tony Rios); nieces and nephews, Kari, Justin, Kristen and Taran; great-nephews and niece; and her beloved dog, Keely.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bob Dahnke in 2011.
