Micah Elizabeth Hackbarth, aged 26 days, died in the arms of her parents at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital on January 31st, 2024. Micah had a beautiful 19 days at home with her parents before being diagnosed with a rare infant leukemia, and passed peacefully after 6 days in the hospital.

Micah is the daughter of Jacob and Sarah Hackbarth. During her brief time on this earth, Micah enjoyed snuggling, being rocked, looking around, eating, and sleeping. She was loved by all who met her, and will be greatly missed.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Grace Community Church in North Liberty, with a reception to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Jacob and Sarah with plans to donate this money in Micah’s name to help other families in similar situations. Jacob and Sarah would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Stead Family Children’s hospital for the care and compassion showed not only to Micah, but to the rest of their family during this difficult time.
