Cayla Therese Baldus was greeted by an angels on January 31, 2024.

Cayla was born on July 27, 1995 in Euless, Texas and moved to Dodgeville, Wisconsin 2 years later. She attended Dodgeville schools where she participated in the local swim team, played saxophone in the band, and ran cross country. At 14, she moved to Galena, IL where she completed high school graduation. Cayla graduated from University of Iowa with a double major in Environmental Science and Spanish.

Cayla was passionate about all animals, but had a special connection with her beloved dog, Ivy. Cayla will always be remembered for her vibrant personality and her love of nature, Mother Earth and sustainability. She was a staunch advocate for equality and worked hard to raise awareness for all genders, races, creeds, and lifestyles.

Cayla is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Truman and Teresa Nelson and her paternal grandfather Roy Baldus.

She leaves behind a large loving family, Mother Jodi Williams (Terry), Father Lance Baldus (Polly Jewel), Grandmother Theresa Baldus, brother Cody Baldus (Dana and nieces Luella and Lorelai), sister Casey Freeman (Josh), and step sisters Jenna Unrath (Jacob) and Marissa Williams. Cayla has 17 aunts anduncles, 35 first cousins, and 64 1x first cousins.

On Cayla’s behalf, her family asks that you keep her memory alive and well by supporting those in need and treat all things great and small with kindness and compassion. A private memorial will be held for family members at a later date. In lieu of flowers please plant a tree or shrub in Cayla’s memory.
