Marilyn Iona Shannon, 76, of Iowa City, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 21, 2023. Graveside services will be held in West Branch Cemetery.

Marilyn was born on January 31, 1947 in Iowa City, IA the daughter of Herman and Ilene (Gruwell) Wolf. She was a 1965 graduate of City High School and 1966 University of Iowa School of Practical Nursing. Marilyn worked for Mercy Hospital for 12 years before working for the Visiting Nurses Association from which she retired in 1996. She was an angel among nurses, it truly was her passion in life. Marilyn was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, altar and rosary society as well as a hospice volunteer. she was very fond of her cats and was a voracious reader of books.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Robert (Libby) Shannon of Oxford, IA, and Jennifer (John) Rushton and her granddaughter, Louisa of Iowa City, IA and Ryan Shannon. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Robert Wolf.
