Sarah, beloved wife and friend of her husband, Peter Rodd, and mother of Piers, passed away after a five and a half year battle against cancer.

Born in Iowa City, Sarah was well-read and will be remembered for her knowledge of both art and science as well as her generosity, wit, and kindly nature both to humans and animals. She lived in France, studying at the Sorbonne, after graduating in French from the University of Iowa. It was in Japan in 1995 she met her future husband and together they traveled in Asia, Europe, Central America, and the United States.

She believed in justice for those less fortunate, and changed the world she inhabited by being the empathetic and loving person that she was. At her request, her ashes will go into the garden to help plants grow.

She will be missed by all who knew her.
