Alexandra “Alex” Marles Westfall, 33, of Iowa City, gained her angel wings surrounded by family on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at her home. A Gathering time will be held from 10 AM – 12 PM, Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City.
Alexandra was born on September 11, 1989, in Bloomfield, IA, the daughter of Dennis Vaughn and Vicki Westfall. She grew up in Johnson County, Iowa. Along life’s journeys she made many friends in Arkansas and Chicago before returning back home. Alex had the most contagious smile that could make anyone’s day brighter.
Alex bravely fought Huntington's Chorea the last 15 years, as life became more difficult and painful, Alex remained incredibly strong. Never would you hear her complain about anything. She took pride in her role as mother and wife.
Alexandra was united in marriage to Delmer Carbajal on September 11, 2010. They have two beautiful daughters together whom they are so incredibly proud of. Alex was an avid lover of flowers which Delmer made sure he brought her often. They took trips all over, celebrated every holiday and made so many memories. Alexandra’s family is forever grateful of the love and caring compassion that the Carbajal’s family and friends have shown Alex. They made sure that she lived, laughed and loved like there was no tomorrow.
Alexandra is survived by her husband, Delmer Carbajal; two daughters, Kyra and Madelene Carbajal; Mother Vicki Westfall; two siblings, Austin and Gotti Westfall; father-in-law, Francisco Carbajal; two brothers-in-law, John and Kant Lanza; close family friends, Jesus and Norma Rivera; Grandmother Bernie Westfall and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Alexandra was preceded in death by her father.
