Wilma Gale Harris, 93, of Manchester, Iowa passed away April 23, 2023.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 28, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Lensing’s Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Road, Coralville with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow the funeral service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Marietta’s Place at The Good Neighbor Society in Manchester, Iowa.
Wilma was born on April 27, 1929 in Lake Arthur, Louisiana to Lester Elmer and Zella Mae (Cain) Pratt. She was raised in Fort Worth, Texas, where she graduated from Paschal High School and then attended business college. Wilma married Robert Harris on May 31, 1952 in Fort Worth, Texas. The couple eventually settled in Coralville in 1971, where they enjoyed 47 memorable years of marriage while raising their two daughters before Robert passed away in 1999.
Wilma was a member of Coralville United Methodist Church, where she was known as “the bread lady”. She loved gardening, attending Iowa women's basketball games, and eating ice cream. She later moved to senior apartments in North Liberty, where she coordinated chapel services for many years. Wilma later moved to Manchester due to her health, where she lived up until her death.
She is survived by her daughter Denise (Steve) Engelken of Manchester, IA, son-in-law Steve Albertson of Prior Lake, MN, six grandchildren Megan Duffy (Bailey Sherlin) of Austin, TX, Patrick (Rachel) Duffy of Bridgeport, NY, Brigette (Nick) Price of Eden Prairie, MN, Amber Albertson of Minneapolis, MN, Kelsey (Evan) Scrodin of Rochester, MN, and Erica Albertson of London, eight great-grandchildren Taylor, Liam, Nolan, Jackson, Jace, Jaimeson, Elison Wilma, and Anson, sister-in-law Helen Pratt, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her daughter Debbie Albertson, her sister Barbara Tarter, her twin brother Willard Pratt and her brother Lester Pratt Jr.
