Carolyn Lucy Ries, 83, died Friday April 14, 2023.

Services will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 2:30 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2923 Northgate Drive, Iowa City, Iowa 52245.

Carolyn was born December 25, 1939 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Howard and Virginia (Hostetter) Van Blair. She attended business college in Davenport, Iowa.

For many years Carolyn lived in Carroll, Iowa, where she was employed at the Carroll Today Newspaper. She then moved to Dallas, Texas, where she resided for seventeen years. In 2015, Carolyn moved to North Liberty, Iowa to be near her family.

Carolyn was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and enjoyed her ministry and studying the Bible with others. Her favorite color was purple, and she loved to dance. She was outgoing, passionate, had a great personality and zest for life. Her smile and laughter warmed the hearts of many. She will be greatly missed.

Carolyn is survived by her sister Mickey Campbell of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, three children, Vicki (Myron) Hoffman of North Liberty, John (Caroline) Ries of Plano, Texas, and Bradly (Jaimie) Ries of Wylie, Texas; three grandchildren, Keith (Aubrey) Hoffman, Kip (Rose) Hoffman and Kayla (Daniel) Jacobo; and great grandson, Finnley Caleb Hoffman.
