Ethel J. Barnhart, 92 of Atrium Village died Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at Atrium Village.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 am Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Saturday one hour before the service at Lensing Funeral Service-605 Kirkwood Ave. Iowa City. Burial will be at Massillon Cemetery in Massillion, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or Atrium Village.

Ethel was born June 8, 1913 in Oxford Junction, Iowa the daughter of Henry and Susie (Loesel) Wieneke. She married Leland R. Barnhart. She lived in Oxford Junction most of her life until moving to Iowa City in 1979. Ethel worked for the Jones County Recorder and Assessor’s Office.

Ethel was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Church in Oxford Junction, Delta Deck, and Oxford Junction. She served as a 4-H Leader and on the election Board. Ethel was an avid crafter and she enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her children; Leeanne Barnhart of Iowa City and William Barnhart and his wife Mary of Iowa City. She is also survived by her two grandchildren; Joel Barnhart of Iowa City and Jill Barnhart of Boston, MA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister.
