Last rites for John Frederick Wentz, 60, were held at the Oakdale cemetery, Iowa City, May 20, with the Rev. Max E. Paige officiating. The West Branch American Legion was in charge of the military services.

Mr. Wentz died at a West Branch nursing home May 19 following a long illness.

The son of John P. and Julia Wentz, he was born in Johnson county Dec.8, 1915. He was married to Edna Miller in West Liberty Sept. 1, 1947. He farmed west of Iowa City.

He was a veteran of World War II and a past president of the Chauncy Butler post of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, a son, John, West Branch; 3 daughters, Dorothy, at home; Mrs. Linda VanderMeer, Concord, Calif. and Mrs. Carolyn Olfest, Sioux City.
