Ernest Holderness, Iowa City, father of Mrs. Cecil (Leila) Cox, Tipton, died at Iowa City, April 10 following a short illness. Funeral services were held April 13.

The son of Ardillis and Carrie Rowe Holderness, he was born Dec. 29, 1910. He was graduated from Iowa City high school and attended the University of Iowa. In 1936 he married Loretta Mariner. She died in 1956. On July 29, 1969, he married Mary Hawkins at Mount Pleasant. He retired from the telephone company last January.

Surviving are his wife; 3 daughters, Mrs. Cecil (Leila) Cox, Tipton, Mrs. Edwin (Verna) Cox, Oxford and Mrs. Stanley (Ann) Netzer, Iowa City; 2 sons, Roy, Coralville, and Terry, Port Orchard, Wash.; 21 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters and 2 brothers.

Also preceding him in death were 3 brothers and a sister.
