DEATH OF MRS. ROBERT EDWARDS
DIED WEDNESDAY EVE.
IN HER 56TH YEAR; WAS NATIVE OF JOHNSON COUNTY

This community was saddened yesterday evening (Wednesday) to hear of the death of one of our most respected citizens, Mrs. Robert Edwards, who died at her home three miles southeast of town at 7:30 P.M.

Mrs. Edwards had been ill for some time, seriously ill of late, her trouble being nervous breakdown and heart trouble.

Alice Oestericher was born April 10. 1867, on the farm where her death occurred and, with the exception of brief visits with her children, her entire life was spent on the old home farm.

May 27, 1890 she married Robert Edwards and to this union were born six children: Bert, Milo, Willie, Louie, Raymond and Mae, the latter having preceded her in death.

All of the children except Bert are located near the old home, all of them except him being with her at the time of her passing from this world to the next. He had been here a few days ago but had returned to his home at Buffalo Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband ten years ago.

She also leaves to mourn two sisters and one brother: Mrs. Martha Branstritter of Menlo, Iowa; Louis Oestericher of Titonka and Mrs. Bell Brigs of Austin, Minnesota.

Deceased was a member of the W. R. C. and the Presbyterian church. As a wife and mother her life approached the ideal. Since her husband’s death she kept her family together, personally watching over their every need, until growing to manhood, they married and made homes of their own.

While her death is a great loss to her children and to everyone who knew her, yet her life is a shining example of fortitude and Mother love.

Unless other arrangements are made the funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock by Rev. Roberts. (Source: Oxford Leader, Oxford, IA, Thurs., Oct 25, 1923, pg. 1)
