John Albert Gerot, 77, Of Riverside Dies; Set Funeral Tuesday

Riverside – John Albert Gerot, 77, a retired farmer, died Saturday at University hospital. Mr. Gerot had been an invalid for several years.

Born in Washington county near Riverside September 14, 1875, he was a son of Peter and Mary Gimble Gerot. Mr. Gerot married the former Letty Frank at St. Mary’s church, Riverside, November 25, 1902.
He was a member of St. Mary’s church, Riverside.

Survivors include the widow, three daughters, Mrs. Irene Knebel, of Riverside; Mrs. Viola Dvorsky, of Iowa City and Mrs. Loretta Mapel, of Columbus Junction, 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Frances Tobin, of Iowa City and a brother, William Gerot, of Riverside.

Services will be at St. Mary’s church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. (Source: Iowa City Press Citizen, April 13, 1958, pg. 1)
